Exploring Different Carbon Allotrope Thermoplastic Composites for Electrochemical Sensing

Composite electrodes are an effective and cheap way to utilize a wide range of carbon materials make electrodes. More recently, thermoplastics have been widely used as the binder composite electrodes, varying fabrication approaches, such three-dimensional (3D) printing, can highly reproducible However, there is clear need understand how electrochemical performance different allotrope varies when made into sensors. We accessed poly(lactic acid) (PLA) thermoplastic filaments containing black, graphite, graphene, multiwall nanotube (MWCNT), fiber using various techniques. Graphite/PLA graphene/PLA showed best electron transfer kinetics. Graphene/PLA had greatest sensitivity lowest limit detection for measurement serotonin.
